Uzumasa has a movie studio and Uzumasa
Eiga Mura (Toei Kyoto Studio Park). You can enjoy seeing period dramas sets and some attractions like Ninja Training Dojo.
Near the park, there is an old shopping street named Daieidori Shopping Street.
On the street there are some famous restaurants where movie actors sometimes
visit.
I visited one of such restaurants to eat C Chinese dishes. These were very tasty and the price was reasonable.
The name of the restaurant is Saiksn Wong.
Please try eating there when you go to Uzumasa.

Rokudo-Chinkoji Temple, Pottery Market on Gojo Street, and Fruits Sandwich
Today, August 10 was the last day of Rokudo-mairi and the pottery market on the Gojo Street. Rokudo-mairi is one of the events of Bon .
Bon or Obon(August 13~16) is the period to welcome our ancestor’s spirits, and most of Japanese take long holidays for family gathering or to go traveling.
In Kyoto, many people go to Rokudo-Chinkoji Temple to do welcoming-ancestors-event; getting Koyamaki(green leaves branch), writing ancestors’ names, ringing a bell, etc.
These are called Rokudo-mairi.
I went to Rokudo-Chinkoji Temple for the first time. This time I couldn’t join the event because I didn’t understand the rule. So I only prayed in front of the temple and went to the pottery market.
There is a candy shop near Rokudo-Chinkoji Temple. I bought a pack of Yurei Kosodate-ame(a ghost mother’s candy to bring up a child ). The name of this candy came from a sad story of a mother. She died when she delivered a baby. As she couldn't give her baby her breast milk and wanted to give her baby nutrition, she became a ghost and went to buy candies everyday to give them
to her baby and brought up her baby.
After 20 minutes walk, I got to Gojo-zaka, the road to Kiyomizu Temple.
Kiyomizu Temple is a very famous tourist destination, but I didn't visit there because
today’s my purpose was visiting the pottery market. It was held on the sidewalk on the Gojo Street near Gojo-zaka.
I bought two cups at this shop.
I went back to Randen Shijo Omiya Station
and bought fruits sandwiches at a fruits shop, Yaoiso. Fruits sandwiches were very delicious.
I got on the Randen train at Omiya Station and went home.

Katsura River and Shovel Cars
I saw shovel cars on the sandbank in Katsura River. Because of the heavy rain in July, there were a lot of sand and stones carried by the stream from the upper stream. The shovel cars excavate sand and stones to keep the river safe condition.
This shovel car looks like a giraffe.

Kawadoko(floor on the river) in Takao and Jingo-jiTemple
We went to Takao to have lunch on Kawadoko. Takao is on the mountain in the north part of Kyoto City. It is famous for utumn leaves, however the green maple leaves in summer are beautiful, too.
We enjoyed eating Japanese style meal and cool breaze from the river on
Kawadoko, the floor set by the river.
